Billy Gerhard
Software developer building games and the tools behind them — founder of Genius Games LLC, an independent studio currently building 3 games on our own idle-game engine, plus apps for the web and iPhone.
About
I'm a developer who enjoys shipping full products end-to-end — games, mobile apps, backend systems, and the infrastructure that ties them together. My main focus right now is Genius Games LLC, where we're building original games on our own idle-game engine.
Games in development
Three titles currently in development at Genius Games, built on our in-house idle-game engine.
Sea Tiger Sanctuary
An idle wildlife sanctuary game set in the Florida Keys, starring the Sea Tiger — a rare, semi-aquatic tiger subspecies — and a cast of real (and reimagined) Keys wildlife. Check out the field guide.
Uncle Ronnie's
Under new management: Uncle Ronnie left you his club and a shoebox of old VHS tapes. Run the nights, remodel the place, and let Ronnie's tapes show you how it's done.
Fishes and Donuts
Run a donut shop on the ocean floor where every customer is a fish, and every species has a favorite flavor.
Apps
Trip planners I first built for my own vacations, a hurricane tracker and a meme maker under Genius Games, plus Shadow Flips for Twitch streamers. The planners, tracker and meme maker are live on the web, and VR Planner is on the App Store, with the other iPhone apps on the way.
WDW Planner
An independent Walt Disney World trip planner: live wait times, crowd levels, park hours, dining and a day planner in one place. Live on the web now — iPhone app coming soon.
Eye of the Storm Tracker
Every hurricane, typhoon and cyclone on Earth, how far each one is from home, and a replay of any storm since 1851. Live on the web now — iPhone app coming soon.
One Does Not Simply
A meme generator built as a meme of the 'One Does Not Simply Walk Into Mordor' format. Being rebuilt with new looks and an iPhone app; the original is still live on the web.

Shadow Flips
A Twitch Extension that lets viewers flip, blank, or play sound effects on a streamer's screen using Bits and channel points. The original is live on Twitch; version 2, with a new desktop app, is in development.
